Put this on your calendar – March
2nd, 4:00-7:30 p.m. come to Gresham
Ford to Drive the NEW 2011 Ford F-150
Ecoboost™. There will be snacks and
prizes, but more importantly when you
take a test drive, Ford Motor Company
will make a donation of $10 to either
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Juvenile
Diabetes Research or Future Farmers of
America. Take a no-pressure test drive
and a donation is made to one of these
fine organizations. Now that is a
win-win-win! We all have someone who
has been touched by one of these fine
organizations.
There has been a lot of buzz in the
market place about electric cars, but
electric cars cannot pull a horse trailer,
haul a load of lumber, haul hay…well
you get the idea. Ford Motor Co. has
been working on an answer! In short, it
has a V-8 powered engine with the gas
mileage many of you are getting in your
current sedans. You’ve got to drive it!
Here are a few of the facts:
• FORD ECOBOOST™ JOINS F-150
LINEUP, DELIVERS UNBEATABLE
CAPABILITY, POWER, AND FUEL
ECONOMY!
• Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost™
engine technology highlights the
most extensive engine makeover
in Ford F-Series history.
• The 3.5 liter EcoBoost™ truck
engine will deliver an unbeatable
combination of best-in-class
towing of 11,300 pounds,
payload of 3,060 pounds, torque
of 420 lb.-ft. and the fuel
economy of a V6.
• Experts have stated “Truck
customers should think of the
EcoBoost™ truck engine as a
gas-powered engine with
diesel-type capability and
characteristics. The twin
turbochargers and direct
injection give it the broad, flat
torque curve that makes towing
with a diesel so effortless-and
hard acceleration so much fun.”
Please call 503-665-0101 and ask for
anyone in our Sales Department to make
a reservation for your test drive!
However, if you forget to call, please just
stop by. Remember, Wednesday, March
2nd, from 4:00-7:30
p.m. We will have the
truck warmed up just
for you and remember
it counts as a donation
too!

Gresham Ford has my business from here on out!
Gresham Ford - I couldn’t be happier with the purchase I made at Gresham Ford! It was by far the easiest, fairest and least pressured car purchase I have ever made. Not only do I love my new car, I enjoyed the service I was given throughout the purchase process and I feel good knowing that my purchase was made locally and with a business that does more than its fair share of giving back to its community. I applaud their Community Support Program, a program where Gresham Ford will donate $100 with the purchase of any new or used vehicle and 10% of all service work, parts and labor, in the customer’s name to the charity of the customer’s choice. As a result of this program, they have helped hundreds of different organizations throughout the region and the nation. I feel fabulous knowing that the charity I chose is $100 richer because of my purchase. Gresham Ford has my business from here on out. You guys are the best!

Perfect Car buying experience @ Gresham Ford!
Great customer service is how I would describe my car buying experience!
Purchased my Ford Focus at Gresham Ford and love my car. The salesman made
it so easy for me, I felt comfortable throughout the buying process everything was explained
to me throughly and they will even give $100 to the charity of your choice when you purchase a
vehicle there and I can also give 10% of my bill when I purchase parts or use their service dept.
I am so glad that I purchased my vehicle at Gresham Ford and will tell all my friends and family
what a great deal I got besides all the other great things that go along with purchasing a car @
Gresham Ford.

It's Simple - "Answer the Call..."
What is the saying “many hands make light work”? Well, the same is true about giving. So when the kids from Gresham Barlow School District call this coming week on behalf of the Gresham Barlow Education Foundation’s Phone-A-Thon, give what you can. Every little bit helps.
Seriously there will be thousands of phone calls made and if everyone just contributed $10 it would mean so much to the elementary reading programs in the district!!
For those that donate $40 or more you will receive some great “thank you” gifts for your generous giving:
• A DVD of the “The Tails of Abbygail”, now on CBS on Sundays at 6:30 a.m. Kids love this show. It
would be a great birthday gift for anyone under the age of 10 – and I would be happy getting one for my
birthday as I consider myself a kid at heart. Thank you Terri Lynn and Al!
• A Children’s book courtesy of “Books 4 Giving”. Thank you Kellee and Raul!!
• A $20.00 Gift Certificate from Gresham Ford’s Service Department where we work on all makes and
models. Thank you Cher and team! Our children are our most precious resource and learning to read is more valuable than all the gold in Alaska.
Imagine a day where you could not read or living a life where it is a continual struggle. The 2011 Phone-A-Thon has pledged all the proceeds will fund reading programs for elementary students in the district. It is not
complicated just “Answer the Call…” and do what you can because “reading matters”.

The 2007 Ford Fusion Wins in
Performance, Handling and Style
22 April/May 2007
“It’s the Kind of Car You Want to Drive”
Drivers liked the substantial feel of the Fusion. They were impressed with how well
Fusion hugged the curves compared to Accord and Camry. The All-Wheel
Drive System made a significant difference in driving performance. Time and
again drivers agreed that the Fusion is fun to drive.
• “I think the fact that the Fusion had the AWD was a really important safety feature”
• “I thought it was really fun to drive, really exciting, really smooth”
• “It was a better-performing car than I expected”
“Aces All Around on the Ford”
The Ford Fusion overwhelmingly exceeded the expectations of many of the
drivers at the Fusion Challenge. Several participants had come into the challenge
fully expecting the Accord and the Camry to perform better than the Ford
Fusion, but after driving all three, the drivers felt the Fusion definitely
outperformed the other two vehicles.
• “If you put the Ford up against the Honda and the Toyota, I would say the
Ford would be number one”
• “I didn’t have high expectations for the Fusion, and for it to come out as
the most fun to drive was a pleasant surprise”
• “In all instances, the Ford really shined”
The Fusion
Challenge
First Fusion won them over in
D.C. ... then did it again in L.A.
Car and Driver magazine invited
drivers in the Washington D.C.
area to come out to compare
three vehicles in performance,
handling and style. Road and
Track then invited drivers in the
Los Angeles area to do the same.
On a closed course in both D.C.
and L.A., the consumers drove:
• 2007 Honda Accord EX-L V-6
• 2007 Toyota Camry XLE
• 2007 Ford Fusion SEL AWD V-6
They were asked to rate their
expectations before the drive,
and then rate the vehicles
again after.
The Result?
After the drive, the
participants rated Fusion
as the clear winner.
Here’s a sampling of what
they had to say about
the Fusion experience.
“I Was Impressed”
The interior styling was “a home run” with the consumers.
From the gauges and console to the contrasting stitching on the
leather-trimmed seats, Fusion’s roomy interior was a winner.
• “The interior of the Fusion was aesthetically pleasing and
had a lot of nice touches”
• “I love the Fusion’s gauges … they were clear, easy to read”
• “It felt comfortable. It was easy to get a good position
behind the wheel”
April/May 2007 23
2007
“It Looks Very, Very Good”
Several drivers expressed the importance of
style and remarked that the Fusion definitely
is an impressive-looking vehicle. The design
of the grille was a big hit with the participants,
and Fusion’s bold look and aggressive styling
made a great first impression.
• “Of the three, I think it’s the best looking”
• “The Ford Fusion had a new, modern,
different look which was really attractive”
• “The stance is aggressive. When you
look at it just parked, it looks nice”
AWD vs. FWD
Why was the Fusion SEL AWD V-6 compared to the Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD)
Honda Accord and Toyota Camry? Very simple ... a comparably equipped
Fusion AWD is priced lower than the FWD, import competitors. This is a class
exclusive for Fusion ... and a value for your customers.

preference for the Accord or Camry. After driving Fusion, they changed

It's A Dog's Life but a Cat's World
Question: How many dogs does
it take to change a light bulb?
Golden Retriever: The sun is shining,
the day is young, we’ve got our whole
lives ahead of us, and your inside
worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?
Border Collie: Just one. And then I’ll
replace any wiring that’s not up to code.
Dachshund: You know I can’t reach
that stupid lamp!
Rottweiler: Make me.
Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with
my squeaky toys in the dark.
Lab: Oh, me, me!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let
me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I?
Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeze,
please, please, please!!!
German Shepherd: I’ll change it as
soon as I’ve led these people from the
dark, check to make sure I haven’t
missed any and make just one more
perimeter patrol to see that no one has
tried to take advantage of the situation.
Jack Russell Terrier: I’ll just pop in
while I’m bouncing of the walls and
furniture.
Old English Sheep Dog: Light Bulb?
I’m sorry I don’t see a light bulb.
Greyhound: It isn’t moving. Who
cares?
New Zealand Sheep Dog: First, I’ll put
all the light bulbs in a little circle…
The Cat’s Answer: “Dogs do not
change light bulbs, people change light
bulbs. So, the real question is: How long
will it be before I can expect some light,
some dinner, and a massage?” All of
which proves, once again, that while dogs
have masters, cats have staff.
In closing, be sure to visit Jazzy Bagels
and thank Kevin for his continued
support of the Oregon Humane Society
and their good work! And, don’t forget to
watch the “Tails of Abbygail” on KOIN 6,
Sunday mornings at 6:30 a.m. (yes you
can DVR it!).

Where Credit Is Due
We get lots of letters from folks
complimenting our great staff.
This is one I just had to share
with you as the credit goes to Annette
Wetzel-Ramirez; she is the member of
our staff that brought this need and
opportunity to light. Her partners in this
continuing good deed are Laurie
Schwarzkopf, John Amato from Gresham
Ford and John Eisel from Gresham
Cellular.
This is an excerpt from the related
recent letter:
“On behalf of Cell Phones for Soldiers
and the troops that benefit from your
generous donation, thank you. Each
donated used mobile phone allows Cell
Phones for Soldiers to fulfill the mission
of providing service men and women with
the opportunity to communicate with
loved ones for free. Las month, we
received 40 phones from your
organization (Gresham Ford), which
generated 2400 minutes of calling time
for troops.
Thanks to kind people like you, we can
provide enriching experiences to soldiers
overseas who cannot talk to their families
often. One phone call can truly make a
difference.
To date, Cell Phones for Soldiers has
raised more than $7 million and
provided more than 90 million minutes
of free talk time. Due to the mobile
phone recycling program, more than 7.5
million cell phones have been recycled
since 2004, thus reducing the impact on
landfills.
As an advocate for Cell Phones for
Soldiers, please encourage family and
friends to support our troops by making
cash contribution today or donating a
mobile device to the program.”
If you would like more information
about the program go to
www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.
Another option, drop off your used cell
phone at Gresham Ford and we will pay
the shipping to get it to this worthwhile
organization.

The Gresham Barlow Education Foundation is Helping to Ensure Tomorrow's Workforce is Ready
It's a skill sometimes taken for granted, but business owners know employees from all walks of life need it to be sucessful. From the kitchen helper who reads the safety precautions relating to fire hazards in the kitchen , to the court clerk who selects information from carious statutes to provide assistance in cases where clarity of jurisprudence is required, the ability to read and understand text is critical for today's workforce.
The Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation is dedicated to improving the skills of struggling readers in our schools - students who will be tomorrow's workers! Each year, the GBEF's Phon-A-Thon raises money for the Learn to Read program. Through the program, under-performing readers in all eleven elementary schools are identified in kindergarten or first frade and provided extra support to improve reading ability. Our efforts are paying off! Nine out of ten students served in the first year of the program showed documented growth in reading levels ranging from one to three levels.
The Foundation will hold its 2011 Phon-A-Thon February 21st thru 24th. Over the course of four evenings, student volunteers will phone parents of students in the district and other community members to ask them for a cash donation in support of the Learning to Read Campaign.
During the Phon-A-Thon, the Foundation is once again partnering with Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce member Gresham Ford. Contributors who donate $40 or more will receive a $20 gift certificate toward service through the Gresham Ford Quick Lane (they provide maintenance work on All Makes and All Models) as well as a FREE DVD of the Tails of Abbygail Volume One and will have the opportunity to choose one book per child thanks to Books 4 Giving.
Last year's Phon-A-Thon raised funds for the Learning ro Read program with all of the funds going to the students. However there is still much more to be done. If you would like to make a donation, or become involved in the project, call the Foundation Office at 503-766-0008 for more information or simply visit http://www.gbefkids.org/ to make a pledge.

Ford Transit Connect Electric Vehicle is now Available in Oregon
• Ford is working with Azure Dynamics to deliver an all-electric Ford Transit Connect van. Azure Dynamics will integrate its Force Drive™ battery electric drivetrain in the Ford Transit Connect Electric. Force Drive components have been used in more than 40 vehicle integrations and have more than 25 million miles of on-the-road experience. Azure Dynamics has been designing and developing electric drive systems for more than 20 years, providing customers with zero-emission transportation solutions.
Ford is delivering an all-electric version of the Transit Connect light-duty commercial vehicle in 2010. Ford is collaborating with Azure Dynamics, a world leader in the development and production of hybrid electric and electric commercial vehicles. Leveraging its ONE Ford strategy, Ford has committed to delivering all-electric power for commercial applications on a global platform. With Oregon and more specifically Portland being one of the greenest cities in America it makes sense for Gresham Ford, the greenest auto dealership in Gresham, to offer the Electric Version of the Ford Transit Connect. This will be the first commercial use electric vehicle. Can you imagine trying to carry flower arrangements, boxed lunches, or plumbing equipment in the Nissan Leaf? The Ford Transit provides the space and payload while utilizing the electric technology.
Transit Connect Electric is the initial offering in Ford’s aggressive new vehicle electrification strategy. During the next three years, Ford will also introduce in North America: A new Ford Focus Electric car in 2011. Next-generation hybrid vehicles, including a plug-in version, by 2012 will be in production and offered for sale by all Oregon Ford Dealerships including Gresham Ford. The use of a global commercial vehicle platform showcases Ford’s ability to deliver products with worldwide marketing opportunities also exist. Strategic partnerships with suppliers are a key element of Ford’s electrification strategy.
Its unique combination of driving dynamics, cargo capacity, accessibility and low costs of operation makes Transit Connect an ideal platform for all-electric power. Commercial users travel predictable, shortrange
routes with lots of stop-and-go in urban and suburban environments – Transit Connect Electric can help them deliver in an environmentally friendly way.
The all-electric version has a range of up to 80 miles, making it a useful hauler, with reduced operation and maintenance costs over the long haul. Transit Connect is designed, engineered and manufactured by Ford on a dedicated global commercial vehicle platform to tough, small commercial vehicle durability standards.
For more information about converting your fleet to electric or other alternative fuels contact the Gresham Ford Fleet Department or Annette Wetzel-Ramirez specifically with your questions. Answer the Call of the Gresham Barlow Education Foundation
The letter below was submitted to the Editor, Mark Garber, of the Gresham Outlook.
Dear Editor,
Every year for the past number of years busy high school kids have given up their evenings for a week in February to help raise money to support reading programs in our schools. Kids who read well are better students, better students get to college. College graduates make for a better work force and community. Kids who read well become adults who help build strong communities.
My wife and I have raised five children and they all attended Schools in the Gresham District. We have good teachers, but they can’t do it one their own, We need to support our teachers and students. As a business man, and as a person who can see that the future of our community rests in the hands of these kids, I want to do everything I can to make sure our students are successful readers. I’m behind the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation’s Phone-a-thon and you can be sure that I’ll be happy to “Answer the Call” February 21st – 24th.
